SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF SELF-ACTUALIZED PEOPLE

Characteristics of Self- Actualizing People According to A. Maslow:

Some characteristics of self-actualized people… who are they? Let’s define this concept first. These people develop themselves and use their existing potential. Every person has the possibility of self cactualization, but only %1 of people reach this level. A. Maslow puts this concept at thechierarchy of needs, explaining why.

Second, let’s consider the characteristics of self-realization people. I will include the wiews of two important theorists here:

1-Characteristics of Self- Actualizing People According to A. Maslow:

      • Accepts herself and others as they are.
      • Sees all people as valuable. Does not distinguish between people.
      • Respects culture but is against those who are against reason and human rights.
      • Knows what is tool and what is purpose.
      • They have a well-developed sense of humor and make fun of themselves when necessary.

Apart from the above features, self-actualized people have many features. For example, she/he takes risks, acts naturally and sincerely, is helpful.. ect.let’s consider the characteristics of self-realization people

2- Characteristics of Self-Actualizing People According to C. Rogers

Rogers, although not different from Maslow, divided these features into four.

a The individual’s correct perpection of stimuli coming from herself\himself and her\his enviroment: For example, be able to evaluate why you failed rather than making excuses in case of failure, accept old age, ect.
b- Living in the moment rather than living in the pas tor future: That is, to live the moment to the fullest is to give life its due.
c- Believing that the person will make the right decision for herself\himself: Trusts her own inner voice, knows herself\himself well. And does not take into account the opinions of others.
d- Individuals to use their full potential: that is, she\he lives, hears, perceives, thinks with all her\his might.

Based on these items, self-realization is not end point. It is a lifelong process.
